DILIP KUMAR THE FOUNTAINHEAD !!
I QUOTE SOME CELEBRITIES SAYINGS ABOUT HIM.
-Dilip Saab is a university of acting.
-I call it a prestige when people say I copy him.
-There are only 2 actors in India, one is me and other is Dilip Saab.
Some many great singers, Directors, Actors and Music Directors praise Dilip Kumar, just another
one doing it now, it sounds nothing special. But I will try to bring some words in his praise.
Special is the category Dilip Kumar will be remembered for on the SILVER SCREENS of India, Dilip
Saab's glory is a extension of Indian Cinema, he is the pioneer to bring STYLE, FASHION and GRACE
to our drab Indian Cinema screens.
Make no mistake everything ever said about him is fully deserving, predecessors and followers are
all proud to have shared the same screen space as that of Dilip Kumar Saab. Giants, Stalwarts,
Prodigal, Epitome can all be a fitting title deserving of Dilip Saab.
I have entered Cinema Halls during the days of Dharminder, Jeetander and Amitabh Bacchan, So I
did not witness the glory days of Dilip Saab, but I had a video and one of my friends had 50 or
more black and white classics of Dilip Saab. He let me see a few. I will give my impressions.
I don't remember their names, one of them had Nargis Dutt as the heroine (Bandhini) it is a superb film to watch, one of the film had Dilip Saab playing a blind man, one had Dilip Saab playing a cripple, no actor can out do him in that particular role. Can anyone fit the shoes of Ram Aur Shaam. Is there a star bright enough to shine in a role like Naya Daur. Can a talent equal himself to Dilip Saab in AZAD, will Nadira loose her AAN to anyone except Dilip Saab. Can a film like YAHUDI be entertaining without Dilip Saab, Achievements shine with or without Wax Statues.
Gladdening the hearts of old prestige conscious India was the most difficult job, a Salman, a
Shahrukh, a AAmir could easily fade without a trace in early days of India, Let me tell you the
Black and White was the medium, a tripod mounted camera was the equipment and few chords of sitar
and few tabla beats were the support to create a base in the hearts of people. Indian Cinema
owe their debt to Dilip Saab for making films popular and India wide penetration. Leaving the
mark on audience mark was a irrefutable domain of Dilip Saab. Paucity of technology was the
biggest debacle. Yet Dilip Saab excelled all the hurdles. He has traversed a long way to be
admired by a generation so long passed in history.
I am writing a review about his charm and achievements, it inspires me to do something with my
life too, I would like to emulate him and his personality in many walks of life. Our roots give
us the strength to stand tall and firm in the tough times of present. If Indian Cinema has roots
in the giants like Dilip Saab, Raj Kapoor, Ashok Kumar, Pran. We must forget despair or fear the
thought of loosing hope. Roots will keep nourishing us in all futures till we have well preserved
History to fall back on to.
I must be a numb brain to attempt writing this review, but sometimes daring to do a thing will
bring its own happiness, I dare to write this review as a homage to my parents, aunties and
uncle's enjoyment of their times, they have passed on to me their fond memories of Dilip Saab's
power of acting and his enduring aura.
I must write more, but my meager ability stunts me to proceed further, whatever few line I could
muster here is a labor of love, I will remember to have acted a fool in pretending to write this
review where angels fear to read. I have only my ignorance to fall back on with this review, I am
not equal to the task at hand, you will understand and justify my feelings if you evaluate the
films of Dilip Saab. Indian Cinema owe its existence to people like Dilip Saab.
Dilip Saab had the task of sweating to create a market for our films, what money is tickling down
today in Indian Film Industry, it is from the fountain first dug up by Dilip Kumar. I must say
the Oak tree under which Film Industry is enjoying the cool shade is the sweat of Dilip Kumar.
I always look at things away from the human eye, I have this fault in my eyes, I must have done
better research to have written this review.
Yo !! Indian Cinema pay up your debt to Dilip Kumar before it is too late !!!!
