HARDWORKING CHENNAI
One impression I cannot disband from my eyes is the preceptive nature of the people in Chennai, they know what you want by just looking at you, anywhere you stop and address a person he has genuine interest in you, he looks at you with feelings and understanding. It does not matter how different you are or how extra ordinary you are, you are not a curiosity in Chennai, nobody stares at you, even if they know you are a stranger they dont bother you. If you dont know the dominant language of the land TAMIL they dont rate you less because of it. Everyone is preoccupied with himself and around himself, they are free from you and you are given freedom.

Chennai favourite mode of address is SIR, everywhere and everybody calls you sir, this word is so much a part of tamil culture it has now become a tamil word now. Chennai is a place where you can afford to be human, tender, humble and you wont loose anything doing that. To the contrary you may gain a friend or two being humble. People here do not respect you because you belong to a class or you look respectable, no they show respect because they enjoy giving respect and you as a human being deserve to be addressed with respect.
See that is one very liberating concept you learn in Chennai, you can be very rich and still you look like a common man, because the culture here looks down on showoff and supposed superior status because of money or other calculations.

The climate is hot most of the times, in rainy seasons there are heavy downpours , the roads are wide, there are points were there is traffic jams, this is one hinderance which needs to be looked into soon, it is becoming chronic and wasting the harworking attitude of Chennai people, the hardworking look you feel on the faces of everyone here, I looked like a hardworking person while I was in chennai, that was a pleasure to me.

Periamet, Annasalai road, mount road, fort road, Kilpauk, Nangabagam, Koil street, Sydenhams Road, Saint Thomas road are some names you come accross while you are here. Chennai has Marina Beach, it is one of the longest beach in the world, efforts are under way to make it cleaned up after the tragedy of TSUNAMI, there are some enjoyable point around here, you can also get to look at a cross section of Chennai people and visitors to Chennai on this beach. Chennai is a hub for the whole state of Tamilnadu, there is no difference between village folks and town people, they easily mix togather, there are no aloof looks in Chennai, everybody is mixed and everybody is right at home here.

Some worth visiting sites are Fort Saint George(State Legislature)San Thome Cathedral, National Deer Park, Children's Park, Kapaleeswarar temple a Museum and art gallery can be looked upon to know the culture and many other sites for the visitors. There are easy Call Taxis and 3 wheeler Autos, fares are negotiable, Taxis run on meter, the fares are ok not high not low, just ok, if you do not know the Tamil language you may find it difficult to have long conversations with general people, but no problem for your needs people understand you perfectly and English is widely used and perfectly understood.

Hotel or Restaurants you go in Chennai, you dont have to attract the waiters attention, they come to you automatically at the appropriate time when you have just well settled, perceptiveness is like second nature here in Chennai, you just turn your head in the direction of a person, he will ask you what you want !! Is that a wonderful thing or what, it saves lot of energy.

Around Chennai there are some exciting sites to visit 60 kms is Mamallapuram a place to look at for architectural beauty, sculptures and handi crafts. Leather has a special meaning in chennai, this city is a WORLD CENTRE for Leather, its a place to buy Leather Goods they are very very cheap here in Chennai, you get the international standard quality very cheaply, Chennai has a prestige in the leather markets of the world, now it is on its way to build REPUTATION, chennai has become synonymous with LEATHER, HANDICRAFTS, AUTOMOBILES in India and over the world at large.

Chennai is one of 4 Major cities of India, it used to be known as Madras before, but now we all call it Chennai. There are lots of seafoods available here, many varieties of Fish, Prawns, Shrimps are available in all hotels of repute and without repute. Kilpauk area has nice and sober restaurants, everything is subdued in Chennai, people relish wearing cotton, humble approach to life in quiet fashion is a landmark here. The Airport is quaint and sensible, there is a big flow of Europeans and Western Nationals in this city, everywhere you go, there is a foreigner going about his chores is found, it seems foreigners love the humble nature of people here that is why they are flocking in Chennai.

Hospitals are so many in this city, its a wonder why we do not call it CITY OF HOSPITALS, everywhere you go there is a very professional and efficient hospital in your sight. Fill your stomach with seafoods and have Faluda Ice cream is the TOPS in dessert in Chennai, I liked the long glass of Ice cream, mixed with fruits and so many other juices with lot of sugar that was a delicacy I remember fondly, the food here gives you energy to make you a hard working person.

Accomodating you and making you feel comfortable is the easiest thing Chennai people do to the visitor, this is the reason big world corporations and big business houses are choosing Chennai for their expansions and manufacturing base in India.

Yo Chennai is successful because of the people's nature in it !!!!!
